Hydro Jetting FAQs

Q: What sizes of pipes can ACS hydro jet?

A: We have a variety of jetting bits and hoses for applications in pipes from 4" diameter to 36" diameter effectively.

Q: How long of a pipe can ACS hydro jet?

A: For pipes that are 4" to 6" in diameter, we are able to jet 150 linear feet maximum from the access point. For pipes that are 8" diameter and larger, we are able to jet 600 linear feet maximum from the access point.

Q: What if my pipe is longer than 600LF?

A: Service lines and pipes that are longer than our hoses can reach are still able to be cleaned by use of a technique we call, "overlapping." If the pipe you need hydro jetted has multiple access points we can then overlap our hydro jetting process to ensure a well cleaned pipe.

Q: How long does it take to hydro jet a pipe?

A: This question is difficult to answer. It is based on things like the amount of mud and debris that is in the pipe, if there are any unknown blockages, if the line has become subject to root infiltration or deformities, and many other reasons all contribute to the amount of time it takes to clean a pipe properly.

Q: How much water does ACS's truck hold?

A: Our service truck can carry up to 2000 gallons of water for hydro jetting use.

Q: Can ACS remove roots from a pipe?

A: Yes we can. In fact, root infiltration is one of the main reasons a pipe may need to be hydro jetted.

Video Inspections (CCTV) FAQs

Q: What does "CCTV" mean?

A: The letters "CCTV" stand for Closed-Circuit Teleision.

Q: How many cameras does ACS use?

A: We use 3 primary types of cameras depending on the the size of pipe and what needs to be inspected. For lines smaller than 8" in diameter and under 200' long, our Push-Cam is used. For lines that are 8" in diameter or larger and under 900' long, our Tractor-Cam is used. For lateral lines, our Lateral Launch-Cam is used and has roughly the same specifications as our Tractor-Cam. The major difference is the Lateral Launch-Cam has two cameras, one stationary cam that remains in the main line, and one launch cam that has the ability to travel up lateral service lines.

Q: If ACS inspects my pipe, what do I receive?

A: After successful completion of a video inspection service, our clients receive a DVD containing the video record of the inspection that was performed and a detailed inspection report containing vital details will also be provided.

Q: What does ACS look for on an inspection?

A: Some of the common items our technicians look for while performing video inspections include, but are most certainly not limited to, cracks, defects, root infiltration, foreign objects, bellies, y's, t's, turns, taps, clean-outs and much more.

Q: Can ACS inspect the sewer before I buy a new home?

A: If you're buying a house, more than likely you requested a home inspection before finalizing the details. You wouldn't want to buy the place sight unseen, so do the same for one of the most important and overlooked utilities, sanitary sewer. We can provide you with valuable knowledge before moving into a house that may have an expensive sewer problem waiting for you.

Q: Can ACS locate and inspect pipes?

A: Yes. We use high-tech cameras that are all equipped with sonde locating equipment. This allows us the ability to inspect, locate, and effectively map sewer and irrigation systems at a surprising speed, saving you time and money.

Vacuum Excavation FAQs

Q: Can ACS remove all the mud in my vault?

A: We sure can! The amount of mud deposited in a system determines the amount of time required to remove it.

Q: Can ACS remove mud from an enclosure?

A: Our vacuum service truck is equipped with a boom and flexible hose so that we are able to access most locations that require the use of our vacuum excavation services

Q: I need my pond drained, can ACS do that?

A: Yes. For most ponds and smaller enclosures removing the water is no problem. For larger applications with large amounts of water, vacuum excavation might not be the best choice. Our vacuum excavation services are primarily focused on the removal of mud, silt, and other debris.

Q: Can ACS vacuum excavate my septic tank?

A: Unfortunately, no. We are unable to undertake the removal of hazardous waste materials at this time.

Locating FAQs

Q: What type of utilities can ACS locate?

A: Our technicians can locate storm, sewer, and irrigation pipe lines of various sizes and lengths.

Q: Will ACS locate the depth of my pipe?

A: Yes. In addition to the depth of the pipe at different intervals from the access point, you will also be able to see the path that the pipe takes with the above ground indicators. Our equipment has the ability to give very accurate readings and can locate pipes up to 15' below the surface.

Q: What size of pipes can ACS locate?

A: We use our sophisticated cameras equipped with sonde locating equipment. Please see our LOCATING OR VIDEO INSPECTIONS pages for more information.

Q: How deep of a pipe can ACS locate?

A: Locating pipes using sonde technology allows us to accurately map systems that are buried 15' below the surface. The accuracy of the depth reading can be affected by many factors such as ground type and mineralization, electromagnetic interference, as well as interference from other sources.

Q: How long will the marking paint last?

A: A few weeks unless it is washed off. The water soluble marking paint we use is the same marking paint used by other industry professionals everywhere. We locate pipes and service lines and mark the ground with marking paint to indicate visually above ground, the path the pipe takes. For areas that more difficult to paint, a marking flag can be used instead.
